USING THE LOOKUP LIBRARY
INTRODUCTION
The Lookup Library function in LegalSuite allows users to store repetitive words and phrases ina “library” and then re-use them again and again. This not only saves time, but also improves accuracy.
Typically, to access
the Lookup Library from a particular field, one would click on the red
arrow
button
and then select the appropriate wording from the list.
This was often tedious and cumbersome and many users found it was easier to just type in the text rather than use the Lookup Library. As a result, this powerful function has not been used as much as it should be.
In the latest version of LegalSuite (Version 4.776 or later) this area of the program has been revamped and, hopefully, improved.
PRE-EMPTIVE TYPING
When your cursor is on a single line entry field, the program will now automatically fill in text for you as you type - if it finds similar wording in the Lookup Library.
1. For example, if you are filling in the Appearer on PA and you have “ADRIAN SMITH” as an entry in the Lookup Library for this field, start by typing “A”
![]()
the program will fill in the rest of the field for you. It puts in the first name or word under the letter typed, from the lookup library, e.g.
![]()
If this is the entry you want, simply press TAB to go down to the next field.
2. If, however, there is also an entry “ANDREW JONES” in the Lookup Library, and you carry on typing “AN”,
![]()
the program will select this name or word beginning with “AN” from the Lookup Library.
![]()
Again, if this is the desired name or word, press TAB at this point and your cursor will move to the next field.
SCROLLING THROUGH THE LIST
You can scroll up and down with your arrow keys to view the entries for the field
ACCESSING THE LOOKUP LIBRARY
You can view the Lookup Library by pressing the CTRL-UP or CTRL-DOWN keys

ADDING TEXT YOU HAVE ALREADY TYPED
If you have typed a lot of text into a Field and then decide that you would like to add it to the Lookup Library, you call up the Lookup Library and press the “Add Text” button. The program will add whatever you typed into the Lookup Library.

Note: This button will only appear if iy detects that there is text to be saved.
CONCLUSION
You can easily build up a list of useful and repetitive entries in your Lookup Libraries which makes data capturing so much easier, more accurate and faster.
