Introduction:
LegalSuite have developed an installation designed to minimise the amount of user interaction when installing the LegalSuite program
and its required components. This guide will take you through a step-by-step process of this installation.
This installation will perform the following actions:
- Install the LegalSuite program files to the desired location.
- Install Microsoft .Net Frameworks 3.5 sp1 (if it is not already installed).
- Alter the Microsoft .Net Security Policy.
- Install Java 6 (if it is not already installed)
- Install and correctly configure Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express (if it is not already installed)
- Install the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express.
- Initialise the SetupDB application.
- Create a LegalSuite shortcut on the desktop.
- Run a Liveupdate from the internet.
NB: This whitepaper is targeted towards NEW LegalSuite installations where an existing LegalSuite installation is not present.
Step 1: The Welcome Screen and Installation Directory
1.1 Insert the LegalSuite installation CD into the CDROM. The CD will then AutoPlay and display the below Welcome screen:
1.2 Click “Next”
The Agreement screen will open:
1.3 Select the “Continue” radio button and then click “Next”
1.4 Change the installation directory by clicking the “Change” button.
The “Browse for Folder” Dialog box will open.
1.5 Select the installation directory and then click “OK”. Typically LegalSuite would be installed on a root drive, IE: C: , D: etc.
1.6 Once you are happy the installation directory is correct, click “Next”
The Installation Wizard with then display the Destination Folder (installation directory) and advise you of the space requirements.
1.7 Click “Next”
Step 2: The automated process
The Installation Wizard will then begin to extract and copy all the required files (This process may take several minutes).
The Installation Wizard will check to see if the Microsoft .Net Frameworks 3.5 is already installed, if this is the case, it will display the below message box.
This is an informative message only – please click on “OK”
A Dos window will appear briefly in order to alter the .Net Security Policy (CasPol)
The Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup will begin.
The Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio setup will begin.
Step 3: Logging in to SetupDB
3.1 The SQL Server Login screen will appear, please UNTICK this checkbox “Use Trusted Connection”
3.2 Please fill in the login details as follows:
- Server: (local)\sqlexpress
- Login ID: sa
- Password: password123
3.3 Click “OK”
The SetupDB Application will open:
3.4 Leave all the values as default and click on “Install Database”
3.5 Click on “OK”
SetupDB will then go through the process of attaching the LegalSuite database.
Once the Database has been attached, the Installation Wizard will automatically run a Liveupdate to update LegalSuite onto the latest avaliable version.
Once the Liveupdate has completed, the Finish dialog screen will be shown.
3.6 Click “Finish”
Step 4: Opening LegalSuite and continuing the Liveupdate process
You will now have a LegalSuite shortcut on the desktop.
4.1 Double-Click on this shortcut to launch the LegalSuite application.
LegalSuite will automatically copy the new files that were downloaded with the Liveupdate.
The Automatic Upgrade window will appear.
4.2 Click “OK” to begin the database upgrade.
Once the upgrade has completed, click on “OK”
You can now login to LegalSuite.
